Growing up, Sanji was a feral little guy. He rummaged through other people's belongings, and stole from the people in his part of town. This habit eventually disappears after spending time with the Pugilists. However, some traits, like his terrible table manners, never disappear.

Sanji was adopted by Hamon at age 6 after Rurukata and Chuchuto, and became their little brother. The events of the PGL 1-30 occur when Sanji is 16 years old.

Bard

At age 17, he left home and travelled as an adventurer, winding up somewhere in Gridania. He enjoys the outdoors, and loves foraging for berries and hunting for meat. He quickly realises that punching antelope isn't the best way to hunt.

To facilitate this hobby, he picked up a bow and arrow. With the help of random archers in Gridania, he gets pretty good at archery. Eventually, he meets Jehantel in the middle of the forest, and studied music under him.

Eventually, Sanji got bored of his nomadic life, and travelled to Limsa, where he joins the OOMFs, a free company in Limsa.

FAQ

✦ Why is he named Sanji?

His family, the Pugilist Guild in Ul'dah, did not know how to pronounce his Miqo'te name. Everyone started calling him Sanji, and the name stuck around. BL is initials for something else, but everyone assumes it stands for Boyslove.

✦ What is his Canon Minion?

In his time in Gridania, he stumbled upon an injured Owlet. His parents were nowhere to be found. Feeling bad for the animal, Sanji nursed it to health as best as he could. When he recovered, he followed Sanji around, eventually becoming his companion.

✦ What is his Canon Mount?

After the events of DRK 50, Sanji found himself caught up in Marimo's Hijinks. She proposed for the two of them to sneak into an Ishgardian ballroom party for the express purpose of causing trouble. Unable to reject her, the two of them join the party, stealing various trinkets from nobles. One of the plundered items was a curious whistle that called upon a White Lanner. Despite the fact that Sanji was not her owner, she eventually obeyed him. Sanji, having an affinity for birds, loves her very much.

✦ What is his favourite Bard Instrument?

His favourite instrument is the flute. Mostly because it sounds "soft and fluffy".

✦ Does he have any object he carries with him or is of significance to him? Why?

The item that is of greatest significance to him is a thick yellow ribbon. On his first nameday with the Pugilist Guild, he was gifted the bow as a joke. It is yellow like his hair, and the ribbon mocks his Miqo'te descent. Despite this, it was the first gift Sanji has ever received from anyone, and he treasures it with his life.

✦ When he thinks of 'family', who comes to mind first? Why?

He thinks of the Pugilist guild back in Ul'dah. Hamon acts as his father figure, Chuchuto as his elder sister, and Rurukata as his elder brother.

✦ How often does he talk to Fray? Does he summon him?

During the events of DRK 30-50, Sanji was very obedient, and agreed with Fray about the general disdain for the people that take his kindness for granted. However, after the events of DRK 50, he cheers up after thinking about the friends he still has, and how not all is lost.

Fray's depressing ideas never leave, but Sanji (for the most part) ignores him. Fray fucking hates it.
